Two Gallants

“[U]nlike two-piece contemporaries such The White Stripes and The Black Keys, Two Gallants have always seemed to have an unstable relationship with their retro influences…the bludgeoning riffs and beats approximate the thump of a pounding, palpitating heart—that is, when Stephens isn’t hanging back in hushed passages of sleepy, sweaty exhaustion.”

— Jason Heller (The Onion A/V Club)

Papa

VENUE: Zydeco
TIME: 8:30 pm
BAND: Emmit-Nershi Band / Red Clay Revival / The Calling Station
COVER: $15

Emmit-Nershi Band

“Whenever you round up a group of top-notch pickers you’re bound to hear some interesting tunes. But when that group includes two of the most well-known, experienced musicians in progressive bluegrass you know you’re in for something special. For Drew Emmitt and Bill Nershi of the Emmitt-Nershi Band, the decision to come together and play music seemed natural – inevitable even.”

Red Clay Revival

“In 2010, McElvy and friend Ben Joseph started Red Clay Revival in Tuscaloosa and took their act on the road to Colorado, playing folk, bluegrass and blues tunes. After Joseph moved to New Orleans, McElvy decided to make Red Clay Revival something on his own, carrying on the name and focusing on bluegrass. He teamed up with upright bassist Evan Dudley, a jazz studies major at UA, and recorded the band’s debut album, Raw Jam.”
